Spain’s economic recovery has been accompanied by a dynamising trend in different segments, among them catering, which in the past three years has created 200,000 jobs, which means that 1.2 million people are now working in this industry. As a whole, hospitality grew by 2 % in 2016, up to 35.131 billion euros according to figures provided by catering and restaurant brands and The NPD Group market research company. The industry has also created 47,000 jobs.

Last year, organised catering and restaurant chains increased their turnover by 7.8 %, up to 10 billion euros, and created 15,000 new jobs.

Catering is closely associated with a high number of exhibitors at FITUR such as hotels, restaurants, autonomous regions, service companies and all kinds of destinations, among them countries such as ARGENTINA or CHINA, regions such as ASTURIAS or the BASQUE COUNTRY, town halls such as GUIJUELO, companies such as BODEGAS RIOJANAS or HARD ROCK CAFÉ MADRID and associations such as the SPANISH HOSPITALITY FEDERATION.
