For the first time, ITH is organising the “ITH Smart Destinations Awards” competition, a call which will recognise the best already implemented national technology solutions and tools helping tourist destinations to deal with the challenges of launching an intelligent tourist destination (ITD).
Any interested technology solutions and tools can be entered in five differentiated categories:
- Governance and public management
- Interaction with tourists and citizens
- Environmental sustainability
- Destination promotion and marketing
The call for candidatures will be open until 15 December and candidatures can be entered on the FiturtechY website: www.ithotelero.com/fiturtechy, where the contest’s legal rules will also be available for consultation.
The jury of the ITH Smart Destinations Awards comprises the representatives of the Sun and Sand Tourist Municipalities Alliance (AMT) as well as a group of professional experts from the national hotel and tourism industry, among them Innva·tur.
The winners will be announced on Wednesday 17 January at the International Tourism Trade Fair, FITUR, and the space chosen for the presentation ceremony will be FiturtechY, specifically and, as was to be expected, the #techYdestino forum specialising in technology applied to tourist destinations.
The three finalists in each category will have the opportunity of giving a presentation on their solution to the jury and the public attending the forum. In addition, these solutions will be included in an online catalogue of technology solutions, which will be presented to the AMT.
FiturtechY is the section specialising in technology and tourism organised jointly by FITUR – IFEMA and the Instituto Tecnológico Hotelero (ITH). It has now been in existence for more than 11 years, during which time it has become an industry standard. A space of more than 2000 m2 in Hall 10 of FITUR at Feria de Madrid will host four forums devoted to the management of the business, the tourist destinations, sustainability and future trends in the tourism industry, all of them with technology as the guiding theme.
The FiturtechY space will also feature an exhibition area, where visitors will be given the opportunity to learn first-hand about the latest novelties in technological provisions, as well as techYhotel, where they can become acquainted and interact with innovations in hotel fit-outs, plus a welcome area sponsored by ENETT, a company specialising in rapid, easy and secure B2B payments.
ITH is the hotel industry’s answer to the challenges that technological advances pose for businesspeople in the tourism industry. Founded thirteen years ago, this innovation centre, attached to the Spanish Confederation of Hotels and Tourist Accommodation (CEHAT), has the mission of promoting the use of new technologies and management systems that contribute to improving competitiveness, profitability, quality, efficiency and sustainability in companies working in the hotel and tourism industry.
